The One Hundred Years Of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin book review

“She had a face full of mischief and a pair of pink pajamas.”

Book rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars

17-year-old Lenni Pettersson is a long-term, terminally ill patient at Glasgow’s Royal Princess Hospital. There Lenni meet’s Margot an 83-year-old terminally ill resident. Margot instantly clicks with Lenni. Recognizing that their ages add up to 100, Lenni and Margot embark on a massive project: 100 works of art to represent their entire century of life. Mostly Margot’s art because she is a wonderful artist.

This is a story of friendship and love at a time when it is needed the most. I loved Lenni’s and Margot’s quirky personalities. Both Lenni and Margot’s stories are beautifully woven together to create one beautiful novel.

I usually stray away from books that are about a young person that is meant to die young but this novel was done in such a way that it stands out from the rest and does not go into that typical sentimental cliche. I positively enjoyed Marianna Cronin’s whimsical, spirited, delightful, and heartwarming debut novel and I can't wait to read what she comes out with next!

The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot is available on Tuesday June 1st!
